Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Card of Wilhelm Walther. Oberstleutnant Wilhelm Walther (27.01.1910 in Dresden †25.11.2010 in Leimen) earned the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on June 24, 1940 as Oberleutnant und Stosstruppführer in the 4. Kompanie/ Baulehrbataillon z.b.V. 800.
Wilhelm Walther was awarded his Knight’s Cross for capturing a strategic bridge at Gennep during the assault on the Netherlands. Leading an 8-man team disguised as Dutch military police escorting German prisoners, they made their assault seizing the bridge and disabling the detonators.
Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
