Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Photo of Franz Schlund. Oberfeldwebel Franz Schlund (10.08.1913 in Leimen †15.09.1995 in Leimen) earned the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on August 30, 1941 as Oberfeldwebel und Bordfunker in the 4. Staffel/ Lehrgeschwader 1.
Awarded after flying about 220 sorties with future Swords holder Joachim Helbig, towards whose success he played a major part. He was the first radio operator in the Luftwaffe to be so decorated.
Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
