Original Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze (Panzer Assault Badge) with an as yet unidentified maker mark, possibly attributable to Adolf Scholze, featuring the typical Gablonz-style setup.
The reverse bears an “AS” within a triangle maker symbol, rather than the more commonly encountered Assmann “A” logo. The hardware configuration and overall construction are characteristic of badges produced in the Gablonz manufacturing area.
This example shows very heavy wear and age with a strong untouched patina throughout. The finish has largely faded due to period wear and corrosion, giving the badge an authentic battlefield-used appearance. Despite the worn condition, the badge still retains recognizable detailing to the tank, wreath, and eagle.
The reverse retains its original hardware setup with functional pin assembly. The badge is priced accordingly due to the condition but remains an interesting original maker-marked combat award with uncommon attribution potential.

Historical Description
The Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze was instituted on 20 December 1939 and awarded to personnel of armored reconnaissance and panzer support units who participated in armored combat operations without belonging to tank crews eligible for the silver grade.
The bronze grade became associated primarily with:
- Panzergrenadiers
- Armored reconnaissance troops
- Assault gun support personnel
- Other mechanized combat formations
The design features a moving Panzer tank surrounded by an oakleaf wreath surmounted by the national eagle.
