DAF / Kraft durch Freude (KdF) Theatre Pass 1937/38 with Photo – Gau Düsseldorf

A very attractive and uncommon original Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) / Kraft durch Freude (KdF) grouping consisting of a 1937/38 KdF Theatre Pass (Theaterring-Ausweis) together with the owner’s Arbeits-Pass.

The theatre pass was issued for the 1937/1938 season to Hans Fürth of Hüls (Krefeld), Gau Düsseldorf. It features the striking original green “Freude am Feierabend” cover design, complete with period portrait photograph, official DAF/KdF ink stamps, and the owner’s handwritten details and signature. The pass is dated 7 January 1938 and issued through the Deutsche Arbeitsfront – NS-Gemeinschaft “Kraft durch Freude”, Gau Düsseldorf.

Included is Hans Fürth’s original Arbeits-Pass, issued by the Arbeitsamt Krefeld, providing an excellent companion document to the KdF theatre membership. The combination offers a nice insight into civilian life in Germany during the Third Reich, illustrating both employment registration and participation in the popular Kraft durch Freude leisure organization.

The Kraft durch Freude (Strength Through Joy) organization was established by the Deutsche Arbeitsfront to provide workers with affordable cultural events, theatre performances, concerts, holidays and recreational activities. Theatre passes with photographs are increasingly sought after, particularly when still accompanied by the owner’s original employment documents.

Both documents remain in good original condition with honest period wear and light age toning. The theatre pass retains its vivid cover artwork, clear photograph, and official stamps, making it an attractive display piece.
