2x Award Docs (EK2 & WIO) – Grenadier-Regiment 435 (215. Infanterie-Division)

Original Urkundengruppe (award document group) belonging to Obergefreiter Waldemar Kühn, serving with 4. Kompanie/ Grenadier-Regiment 435, consisting of two documents:

1. Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse

The Verleihungsurkunde zum Eisernen Kreuz 2. Klasse (Award Certificate for the Iron Cross 2nd Class), dated 22. Dezember 1943, issued Im Osten (on the Eastern Front).

The certificate bears the official service stamp and the handwritten signature of a Generalleutnant und Divisionskommandeur. The signature appears to read Bruno Frankewitz, commander of the 215. Infanterie-Division from November 1942 until April 1945. The attribution is provisional pending definitive signature confirmation.

2. Ostmedaille

A second document confirming that Obergefreiter Waldemar Kühn, serving with 4. (M.G.)/Grenadier-Regiment 435, had been awarded the Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42 (Ostmedaille) on 6. August 1942.

The document bears an official service stamp and a handwritten certification signature beneath Für die Richtigkeit, with the printed designation Oberleutnant und Regimentsadjutant.

Grenadier-Regiment 435 formed part of the 215. Infanterie-Division, which served on the Eastern Front during this period.

An attractive two-document group, combining an Iron Cross award certificate signed at divisional-command level with a separate confirmation of the recipient’s earlier Ostmedaille.

Condition

Both documents show considerable age-related toning and handling wear. The Iron Cross certificate has multiple horizontal and vertical folds, creasing and minor marks. The Ostmedaille confirmation also shows fold lines and general wear. Official stamps and signatures remain visible. The reverse of the Iron Cross certificate is blank.
