Portrait of Kriegsmarine Sailor – Treudienst- and Memellandmedaille
IN STOCK
Original, attractive studio portrait of a young Kriegsmarine sailor wearing his naval dress uniform and decorations.
The sailor appears to wear a medal bar featuring the Medaille zur Erinnerung an die Heimkehr des Memellandes (Memel Medal) alongside what appears to be a Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen (Faithful Service Decoration). This combination is unusual in a Kriegsmarine portrait and makes the photograph particularly interesting to collectors of German medal and naval photograph material. The exact identification of the smaller decoration should be regarded as provisional due to the size and clarity of the image.
The reverse bears the photographer’s stamp: Photo-Schemkes, Wesermünde-M., Tel. 1497.
Condition
Good overall detail, with some age-related toning and minor marks to the photograph and mount. Please inspect the images for condition.
