Excerpt
Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Photocopy of
Georg Olschewski
. Oberleutnant (Ing.) Georg Olschewski (02.06.1911 † 29.09.1996) earned the
Ritterkreuz
on April 23, 1944 as
Oberleutnant (Ing.) und Leitender Ingenieur
of
U-Boot "U-66"
. Good condition. Measuring 8,4x12,8cm. Comes with a handwritten letter! Knight's Cross: “Olschewski
has served as the Leitender Ingenieur of U 66 in an uninterrupted period since November 1941, under the leadership of its commanders Zapp and Markworth (both Knight’s Cross Holders) and his superior Seeoberleutnant Seehausen. He has so far participated in 7 war patrols (comprising 520 days at sea), during which the U-Boat sunk over 209000 GRT of shipping.
Oleschewski is an outstandingly proficient Ing. Offizier, whose steady nerves and battle readiness are nothing short of exemplary. He is an excellent U-Boat-IG with a firm grasp of his ship’s mechanics, something he has proved in many critical situations through his fearless calm, understanding and swift action. Through this he contributed decisively in preserving his submarine in tense situations resulting from heavy damage or personnel losses. That most of the outstanding successes of the submarine could be conducted through underwater attacks is another demonstration of how he has decisively contributed to its total of ships sunk.”
