Photo Postcard of Bildarchiv Krupp-Germaniawerft Kiel (Nr. 4/24) of Knight’s Cross Holder Rolf Mützelburg, who earned the Ritterkreuz on November 17, 1941 as Kapitänleutnant and Kommandant of U-203 and the Eichenlaub on July 15, 1942 as Kapitänleutnant and Kommandant of U-203. He also earned the U-boot Kriegsabzeichen mit Brillianten. Rolf Mützelburg died as a result of an accident at sea on September 11, 1942. On his eight patrols in the Atlantic, the US east coast, and the Caribbean Sea, he sank 19 ships for a total of 81,961 gross register tons (GRT), and damaged three more (17,052 GRT). Good condition. Postcardsize.

Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
