Historical Description
The “Mein Kampf” wedding edition (“Ehestandsausgabe”) was a special ceremonial version of Adolf Hitler’s political autobiography and ideological manifesto distributed throughout Germany during the Third Reich. Beginning in the mid-1930s, German municipalities commonly presented these books to newly married couples during official civil wedding ceremonies as part of the regime’s effort to integrate National Socialist ideology into everyday German life.
These presentation editions were usually personalized with the names of the married couple, date of marriage, city of issue, and the signature of local officials or mayors. Surviving examples therefore often represent unique historical artifacts directly tied to specific individuals, municipalities, and dates during pre-war Germany.
This particular example was issued by the City of Bonn on 16 October 1937, placing it firmly within the pre-war consolidation period of the Third Reich. The book combines both original volumes:
- Eine Abrechnung
- Die nationalsozialistische Bewegung
Published by the official NSDAP publishing house Franz Eher Nachfolger, “Mein Kampf” became one of the most widely distributed political works in Germany during the 1930s and wartime years.
