2x Extensive Photoalbums of Stabshelferin – Belgium, Holland & Austria – H.K.B. XXXII / K.d.K.12 – Concert Signatures

An exceptional and beautifully preserved named wartime archive belonging to Stabshelferin Theresia Leitner, consisting of two large original scrapbooks/photo albums documenting her military service between 1943 and 1945. One of the albums has her original Stabshelferin armband pasted to it on the top right.

Unlike ordinary photograph albums, these were carefully compiled by their original owner during the war and contain a remarkable combination of original photographs, official military documents, travel permits, theatre and concert programmes, handwritten captions, poems, newspaper clippings, maps, souvenirs and numerous personal mementos. The result is an outstanding visual diary of the life of a Wehrmacht female auxiliary.

Theresia Leitner first served with Heeres-Kraftfahr-Bezirk XXXII, before being attached to Kommandeur der Kraftfahrerparktruppen 12 (K.d.K.12) in occupied Brussels, Belgium. The albums document her daily service, leisure activities, military comrades, travels and later movements through Austria and Germany during the final years of the war.

The Belgian section is particularly fascinating, featuring extensive coverage of Brussels and Ixelles with original photographs, Belgian banknotes, maps, cinema tickets, theatre programmes, typed poems and humorous collages created by the owner herself. The albums provide a rare insight into the everyday life of a Heer Stabshelferin serving behind the front.

An especially attractive feature is the large amount of original wartime documentation incorporated directly into the albums. Included are Kriegsurlaubsscheine, Sonderausweise, official military correspondence, travel permits, invitation cards and administrative paperwork, all preserved exactly as they were mounted by the owner during the war.

The archive also contains numerous programmes from Wehrmacht-sponsored concerts, theatrical performances and cultural events held in occupied Belgium. Several retain original autograph signatures of conductors, musicians and performers, including programmes from the Philharmonie Brussel, wartime theatre performances and musical events attended during her service.

Her travels are exceptionally well documented. Besides Belgium, the albums record visits to Holland, including material connected with Schnelle-Abteilung 511, later movements through Vienna and finally service connected with the Infanterie-Fahnenjunkerschule. Original photographs illustrate military headquarters, barracks, officers, comrades, excursions, official receptions and everyday life.

Several photographs depict Generalmajor Keltsch, adding further research potential to this already outstanding grouping.

The albums contain hundreds of original photographs together with numerous period documents and ephemera, all arranged in an artistic scrapbook style with handwritten captions and contemporary commentary. They remain in excellent original condition and represent a highly personal wartime record that has survived virtually untouched.

Named Heer Stabshelferin archives of this quality are exceptionally scarce. Complete groupings documenting military service in occupied Belgium, incorporating official documents, travel permits, military headquarters, cultural life, original signatures and identifiable senior officers are rarely encountered on today’s collector’s market.

A superb research archive and an outstanding centrepiece for any advanced collection focusing on the Wehrmacht, female auxiliaries (Stabshelferinnen), occupation history, or original wartime personal groupings.

Condition: Very good original condition with normal age-related wear. The albums remain complete with their original contents, photographs and documents.

An exceptional, museum-quality named Wehrmacht Stabshelferin archive with outstanding historical and research value.
