The schwere Panzerjäger-Abteilung 655 was formed in April 1943 and was equipped with Nashorn tank destroyers. In September 1944 it was re-equipped with one company of Jagdpanthers and two companies of Jagdpanzer IV. Due to delays in the deliveries it saw sent to the western front without the Jagdpanthers in early December and the Jagdpanthers arrived in early January.
