DRK Verwendungsbuch – Frankfurt am Main

An original Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK) Verwendungsbuch issued to Richard Johann Thum, born 7 December 1886 in Köln, Rhine Province. This official service book served as the personal identification and service record for members of the Freiwillige Krankenpflege (Voluntary Medical Service) during the Second World War.

The booklet retains its original portrait photograph, securely attached and cancelled with multiple official DRK stamps of the Kreisstelle Frankfurt a.M. III. It was officially issued in Hamburg on 25 June 1940 by the Inspector of the Deutsches Roten Kreuz for Wehrkreis X, complete with the original signature and official DRK inspection stamp.

Richard Thum is recorded as a merchant (Kaufmann) by profession and entered the Freiwillige Krankenpflege on 5 February 1940. The booklet contains detailed personal information, including his family details, physical description, identification number, and medical service qualifications as a Krankenpfleger. The document remains largely complete with numerous handwritten entries and official authentication stamps.
