Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Photo of Egon Delica. Hauptmann Egon Delica (04.01.1915 in Stettin †26.04.1999) earned the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on May 12, 1940 as Leutnant und stellvertretender Führer of the Sturmgruppe “Granit” of the Sturmabteilung “Koch”. Egon Delica was the leader of Trupp 1 in Sturmgruppe “Granit”. The Sturmgrupe “Granit” (Granite) was the assault group that famously captured the Belgian Eben-Emael fort on 10 May 1940 led by Oberleutnant Rudolf Witzig. It was 86 men strong and was carried in 11 gliders.
Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
