Historical Description
The Finland Continuation War Commemorative Medal 1941–1945 was established on 24 May 1957 to honour those who participated in the Continuation War.
The Continuation War (1941–1944) is considered a continuation of the Winter War (1939–1940), during which Finland defended itself against the Soviet Union and subsequently sought to regain lost territory. The conflict took place alongside Germany’s invasion of the Soviet Union, during which Finland aimed to recover previously ceded areas and secure its eastern border.
The medal is a circular single-piece design, symbolising service during this period, and is worn on the national-coloured ribbon as prescribed.
