An original Deutsches Reich Arbeitsbuch issued to Josef Hellbach, documenting his civilian employment history during the Third Reich. Introduced in 1935, the Arbeitsbuch served as the official employment record for German workers and remains one of the most recognizable administrative documents of the period.

The booklet belongs to Josef Hellbach, born on 2 March 1912 in Baumbach (Westerwald). Professionally, he is listed as a Brennholzschneider (firewood cutter), with his residence recorded in Baumbach. The Arbeitsbuch retains his original handwritten details, signature, issue number, and period entries.

The recorded employment includes work at:

  • Franz Herbst Kistenfabrik-Sägewerk, Baumbach/Westerwald
    • Employed as Sägewerker (sawmill worker)
    • 29 May 1932 – 31 October 1942

The document remains in very good original condition with light age-related wear. It is complete, well-preserved, and features clear handwritten entries and company stamps.

Arbeitsbücher provide an excellent insight into the civilian workforce of the Third Reich and are increasingly sought after by collectors due to the personal employment histories they preserve. This example represents a straightforward occupational record from the German timber industry and makes an attractive addition to any collection of Third Reich documents or social history.
