German Ostmedaille – Winter War Medal – Unmarked

€65,00

An original German Eastern Front Medal (Ostmedaille), instituted on 26 May 1942 to commemorate participation in the winter campaign on the Eastern Front during 1941–1942.

The obverse features the German national eagle clutching a swastika above a steel helmet and stick grenade, surrounded by a circular raised rim. The reverse bears the inscription “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42”, above a crossed sword and laurel branch.

This example is unmarked on the suspension ring and retains its red ribbon with the characteristic central black stripe bordered by narrow white stripes.

The medal displays a dark grey finish contrasting with the lighter-coloured rim and suspension. Both sides retain clear, well-defined details.
