Postwar Signature of Heinrich Schroeteler, Commander of U-1023. Awarded for the damaging of 1 ship (with 7345 GRT). His receiving the award despite this rather paltry success is likely on account of his claiming another 4 ships damaged, the late war circumstances and his personal connections to Dönitz.
