Original Hoffmann Postcard, Nr. 37 of Erich Schuster, who earned the Knight’s Cross with the Fallschirm-Sturm-Regiment.
Knight’s Cross was awarded for his actions during the Battle of Crete. His platoon leader, Feldwebel Arpke, was badly wounded when their glider landed and so Schuster took over the II. Zug of his company. He and his platoon then proceeded to eliminate an enemy anti-aircraft battery and capture the western end of the Malemes airfield.
