Original Imperial German Wound Badge in Black (Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz) from the First World War, 1918 pattern.
The badge features the characteristic steel helmet surrounded by a laurel wreath and crossed swords, with the black finish of the lowest grade of the wartime Wound Badge.
This example is unmarked and retains portions of its original black finish, with areas of wear revealing the underlying metal and lighter highlights across the wreath, helmet and details. The badge displays natural age and patina consistent with a period-used example.
The original pin, hinge and catch remain present on the reverse.
