Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Photocopy of Karl Schmid. Oberleutnant Karl Schmid (04.04.1916 † 21.07.2006) earned the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold on April 24, 1942 as Oberfeldwebel in the 8. Staffel/ Kampfgeschwader 27 “Boelcke” and the Ritterkreuz on August 19, 1943 as Leutnant und Flugzeugführer in the 14. (Eis) Staffel/ Kampfgeschwader 27 “Boelcke”. Good condition. Measuring: 7,3x12cm. Comes with an extra handwritten letter.
Knight’s Cross: Awarded following his downing behind Soviet lines. By then he had flown a total of 375 sorties (counted as 438 front flights), during which he destroyed 57 trains and 12 locomotives.
