Original Soldbuch & 2 Feldpost letters of Walter Banthin, born on December 1, 1909 in Hannover. Soldbuch was opened on August 31, 1944 by the Panzer-Pionier-Ersatz und Ausbildungs-Bataillon 19. He wore the Erkennungsmarke: -1516- Pz.Pi.Ers.u.Ausb.Btl.19. Pionier Walter Banthin was Killed in Action on April 7 / 9, 1945. Walter Banthin ruht auf der Kriegsgräberstätte in Einbeck – Salzderhelden, Kriegsgräberstätte . Endgrablage: Reihe 6 Grab 4. Volksbund notes his date of death as April 9 but the small piece of paper notes his date of death as April 7 and Killed at Neuhaus near Holzminden.

- 3. Kompanie/ Panzer-Pionier-Bataillon 19
He earned the following award(s):
- on 07.01.1945 the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern
Promotions:
- 17.12.1944 to Reserve-Offizier-Bewerber
Complete without photo, but it came with an extra (damaged) photo. Likely this is also him. Possibly a duplicate photo that was kept in the soldbuch. Soldbuch looks to have shrapnel damage.
