KIA Wehrpass & ISA Award Doc – Grenadier-Regiment 670 (3 Brothers KIA/MIA)

An original and historically interesting Wehrmacht document grouping belonging to Gefreiter Josef Ott, born 27 August 1925 in Duisburg, who served with 5. Kompanie/ Grenadier-Regiment 670 during the Second World War.

The grouping is centered around his Wehrpass, which documents his military career from his induction in June 1943 through his promotion to Gefreiter and award of the Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber (Infantry Assault Badge in Silver) on 1 May 1944.

Included is the original award certificate (Besitzzeugnis) for the Infantry Assault Badge in Silver, issued to Josef Ott while serving with Grenadier-Regiment 670.

Combat entries include service along the French Channel Coast and Atlantic Coast before the unit’s transfer to Croatia, where operations against partisan forces are recorded. Afterwards going into Osteinsatz.

The grouping is further enhanced by several original family memorial documents and photographs. Josef Ott was killed in action on 7 September 1944, while the memorial card notes that he followed his brother Paul Ott, who had already fallen on 25 July 1943. A third brother, Klemens Ott, was reported missing during the same year, making this a particularly poignant family history.
