Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern Award Doc – April 1944

Original German award certificate (Verleihungsurkunde) for Obergefreiter Erich Wehr, awarding the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords), dated 20. April 1944.

The location is handwritten as an abbreviation that appears to read St.-Qu., possibly referring to Saint-Quentin; this interpretation remains tentative.

The certificate features the printed award text, the recipient’s handwritten name and rank abbreviation, and an original military service seal (Dienstsiegel). It is signed by an officer identified in the document as Hauptmann und Divisionsadjutant (Captain and Divisional Adjutant). The signature is not sufficiently clear to assign a reliable name. Also cannot make out the Feldpostnummer.

The award was issued in the name of the Führer, as indicated by the original printed wording and decoration at the top of the certificate.

Condition

Good overall condition for an original wartime document. The paper shows light age-related toning and minor handling marks. The official seal is present but somewhat faint and worn. The handwritten recipient details, date and officer’s signature remain clearly visible.
