Original WWII German award certificate (Verleihungsurkunde) for the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords), awarded to Friedrich Jungk.

The certificate is dated Berlin, 13 August 1943, and was issued under the authority of the Commander-in-Chief of the German Navy (Der Oberbefehlshaber der Kriegsmarine).

A particularly notable feature is the handwritten signature of Großadmiral Karl Dönitz, whose name is not merely printed but appears as a handwritten signature above his printed rank. Dönitz had become Commander-in-Chief of the Kriegsmarine in January 1943.

The lower section bears an official naval service seal and a second handwritten certification signature, with the signatory’s rank printed as Fregattenkapitän. The certificate also includes the reference number MPA. III. Nr. 10845/43.

This is an attractive example of a Kriegsmarine award document featuring a handwritten signature attributed to one of the German Navy’s highest-ranking commanders during the Second World War.

Condition: Prominent horizontal fold across the centre, light age-related discoloration and minor creasing. The official seal is present, although its impression overlaps the lower reference area and certification signature. The Dönitz signature remains clearly visible. Please inspect the photograph for the exact condition.
