Ostmedaille – Maker Marked 93 – Richard Simm & Söhne, Gablonz – NM
€75,00
An original German Eastern Front Medal (Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42), commonly known as the Ostmedaille, awarded for service during the winter campaign on the Eastern Front in 1941–1942.
The medal features the German national eagle holding a swastika above a helmet and stick grenade on the obverse. The reverse bears the inscription “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42”, with a crossed sword and branch beneath.
The suspension ring is stamped “93”, identifying the manufacturer as Richard Simm & Söhne, Gablonz. This maker’s code is documented in specialist militaria catalogues and dealer references.
The medal retains its red ribbon with the distinctive central black stripe bordered by white stripes. The dark finish contrasts with the lighter-coloured raised rim and suspension assembly.
Condition: Shows age-related wear and surface oxidation, with some loss of the original finish. The raised details remain clearly visible. The suspension ring and ribbon are present. Please examine the photographs carefully for the item’s precise condition. Near Mint.
An attractive maker-marked example of the Ostmedaille by Richard Simm & Söhne, suitable for a collection of German Second World War medals and decorations.
