Stunning and interesting grouping belonging to a Oberfeldwebel Karl Würfl, who served with Panzer-Regiment 204 until he got severely wounded by shrapnell and had to be hopitalized, which led to the amputation of his left foot. He didn’t leave service afterwards but took a course for ‘Kriegsversehrte Berufsuffz.‘ and likely became a teacher in the reserve units. His main active unit during the war was Stabskompanie II./ Panzer-Regiment 204 of the 22. Panzer-Division, where he served from July 1941 until August 1942. Oberfeldwebel Karl Würfl got severely wounded on July 15, 1942 during the Crimea Campaign. Interestingly, the Panzer-Regiment 204 was equipped with French ‘Beutepanzer‘ and later when it was dissolved; it formed the schwere Panzer-Abteilung 509. Oberfeldwebel Würfl was awarded 7 (!) awards, which were all entered into his Soldbuch and Wehrpass: Iron Cross 2nd Class, Krimschild, Ostmedaille, Wound Badge Silver, 1 Oktober 1938 Medal, 4 Years Service Medal and Shooting Award 2nd Class. This is a very honest and decent grouping with a Soldbuch that was carried for 6 years!
The grouping contains the following, all original:
- His Soldbuch, which he carried from 1939 until May 1945, even his release from the Wehrmacht on May 7, 1945 was written in. 7 awards were entered in the Soldbuch! These awards are: Iron Cross 2nd Class, Krimschild, Ostmedaille, Wound Badge Silver, 1 Oktober 1938 Medal, 4 Years Service Medal and Shooting Award 2nd Class. Soldbuch was a photo stapled in of Ofw. Würfl (also partly visible is the Shooting Award Lanyard!). Soldbuch is complete, the back is somewhere loose but not completely detached from the pages. It also has been period repaired with tape as can be seen, nothing else can be expected from a Soldbuch being worn 6 years throughout the war!
- A Soldbuch Cover
- His Wehrpass, which is complete and in good condition. Also (almost) all information has been entered, except for his severe wound in 1942 which resulted in his amputed left foot.
- His Erkennungsmarke, which matches his Soldbuch!
- (His) Krimschild, original example from an unknown maker. Misses a prong on the back (still 3 from the 4).
- His original pre war Führerschein (Driver’s License) with stunning photo (including ‘P50’ shoulderboards).
- Other paper documentation.
