Personalausweis Marine-Helferin – Hilfskrankenträgerin, Rotterdam – 1944

Original Personalausweis für Marine-Helferin Erika Hütter (Identity Document for Navy Auxiliary Woman Erika Hütter), issued in Rotterdam on 15 June 1944 by the Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine.

Born on 24 May 1916 in Leipzig, Erika Hütter had received special instruction as a Hilfskrankenträgerin (auxiliary medical orderly). The document states that, when required, she could be called upon to assist with the recovery, transportation and care of wounded and sick personnel.

The certificate authorises her to wear the designated Hilfskrankenträgerinnen armband (auxiliary medical orderly armband), described in the document as a white armband stamped with the inscription “Hilfskrankenträger.” It also refers to the protection afforded to such personnel under Article 9, paragraph 2, of the Geneva Convention of 27 July 1929, when performing their medical duties in captivity.

The document features a red cross, the official stamp of the Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine (High Command of the German Navy) and a handwritten authorising signature.

An interesting original wartime document illustrating the organisation of auxiliary medical personnel serving under the German Navy in occupied Western Europe during 1944.

Condition: Appears well preserved, with visible age-related discolouration and a central fold. The printed text, handwritten personal details, red cross and official stamp remain clearly visible.

A desirable paper item for collectors of Kriegsmarine militaria, female auxiliary service and wartime medical personnel.
