Rare Fallschirmjäger Grouping – Afrika, Normandy, Operation Market Garden & Lower Rhine – Regiment Barenthin & Fallschirm-Werfer-Abt. 21 (!)

Exceptional original WWII grouping belonging to Georg Feige, born 16 February 1924, documenting an extensive wartime career with German Fallschirmjäger formations.

The centerpiece is his heavily used original Luftwaffe Soldbuch, accompanied by original award documents, medical documentation, photographs, personal papers and postwar identification material. The Soldbuch documents his service with Fallschirmjäger and Fallschirm-Artillerie formations, including Regiment “Barenthin”, 14./Fallschirm-Artillerie-Regiment 1, followed later by service with the Fallschirm-Werfer-Abteilung 1.

Particularly interesting are the following documented elements:

• Afrika-Armband, awarded 14 August 1943 at the headquarters of the Oberbefehlshaber Süd.
• Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse, awarded 30 October 1943, while serving with 14./Fallschirm-Artillerie-Regiment 1.
• Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz, following a wound sustained on 28 March 1943.
• Medical documentation showing treatment and evacuation through military hospitals in Italy, including Kriegs-Lazarett Neapel.
• Later service with the Fallschirm-Werfer-Abteilung 21, an uncommon Fallschirmjäger artillery/rocket-launcher formation.

Western Front service

His later service places him in some of the most important campaigns of the 1944 Western Front:

Normandy – 1944
The Fallschirm-Werfer-Abteilung 21 was committed in Normandy, including operations alongside the 116. Panzer-Division.

The Netherlands – Operation Market Garden – September 1944
The unit was subsequently employed in the Netherlands against the Allied airborne offensive. Contemporary unit-history material places Fallschirm-Werfer-Abteilung 21 in the Nijmegen/Kleve sector, directly connected with the German defensive operations against the Allied airborne forces during Operation Market Garden.

Lower Rhine – 1944/45
The unit subsequently remained within the German Fallschirmjäger command structure on the Western Front, making this grouping particularly interesting for collectors specializing in the Lower Rhine / Arnhem–Nijmegen campaign.

The combination of an original, heavily combat-used Soldbuch, multiple wartime awards, medical documentation, original photographs and personal papers — together with documented service in North Africa, Italy, Normandy and the Netherlands/Market Garden, and the rare Fallschirm-Werfer-Abteilung 21 — makes this a particularly substantial Fallschirmjäger grouping.

Condition: heavily used original Soldbuch with significant age and field wear, tears, staining and period repairs. Documents and photographs likewise show normal wartime handling and age-related wear.
