Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Photo of Robert Kowalewski. Oberstleutnant Roberto Kowalewski (15.03.1914 in Berlin † 05.07.1996 in Herdecke) earned the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold on July 2, 1942 and the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on November 24, 1940 as Hauptmann und Flugzeugführer in the Korpsführungskette of the X. Fliegerkorps.

“For sinking 83,680 GRT of enemy merchant shipping, damaging a British cruiser, shooting down a fighter and a flying boat, and bringing his crew back safely on a single engine after a successful raid on Moray Firth/NE Scotland.”

 

Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
