Original Luftwaffe Soldbuch of SS-Rottenführer Heinz Gemski. Gemski served with various Luftwaffe Flak units such as Flak-Abteilung 542 and from 1941 until 1944 with Reserve-Flak-Abteilung 804. With this unit, he (his gun) at least managed to shoot down one Allied Aircraft (a Lightning) and participated in the shooting down of 3 other Allied Aircraft (Lighting, Vickers-Wellington and a Liberator). Due the massive losses of the Waffen-SS servicemen, the other armed forces had to give up soldiers, also known as the “Hermann Göringspende” to fill up the ranks of the Waffen-SS again. Gemski was then ordered to the SS-Artillerie-Ausbildungs- und Ersatz-Abteilung 5 and in September 1944, he was transferred to the 5. SS-Panzer-Division “Wiking”. He managed only to survive a few months with the “Wiking”, as he was Killed in Action on January 20, 1945 in Hungary. SS-Rottenführer Heinz Gemski at least earned the Flaktätigkeitsabzeichen. He may have been awarded other decorations but he received a new Waffen-SS soldbuch in August ’44 and this Soldbuch was closed. Interesting for future research. Comes with various other documents.
