Historical Description
The Großdeutschland unit evolved from the elite Berlin guard regiment into the renowned Panzergrenadier-Division “Großdeutschland,” widely regarded as one of the Wehrmacht’s premier combat formations. The division fought in major campaigns on the Eastern Front, including Operation Barbarossa, Kursk, Kharkov, Romania, East Prussia, and the Baltic battles. It was consistently prioritized for men and materiel and fielded some of Germany’s best equipment, including Panthers and Tigers.
