Wehrpass, Papers & VWA Award Doc – SS-Polizei-Regiment 2

IN STOCK

Price revealed when Early Access opens.

A very interesting and well-documented personal grouping belonging to Alfred Beil, a Rottwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei (Police Sergeant), who served with 12./ SS-Polizei-Regiment 2.

The group includes his original Wehrpass, a DAF booklet, the award certificate for the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz (Wound Badge in Black), wartime medical documentation, travel and leave paperwork, correspondence and additional personal papers. Also interesting is that he served with the Wasserschutz-Polizei.

The Wehrpass is mostly empty except for his biographical data.

The wound badge certificate records that Beil sustained his first wound on 9. Januar 1945. The Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz was formally awarded at Prag-Reuth on 26. Januar 1945, with the document bearing the signature of a Stabsarzt und Chefarzt and an official medical stamp.

Particularly interesting is the accompanying hospital documentation, which records the nature of his injury as:

“Granatsplitter-Durchschuss linke Wade” – a penetrating shrapnel wound to the left calf.

A further medical entry dated 13. April 1945 provides additional documentation of his treatment during the final weeks of the war. The accompanying travel paperwork also records his journey from the hospital back to his unit.

His Wehrpass provides further personal identification, including his date and place of birth: 20. Juni 1905, Königsberg i. Pr., together with a portrait photograph and personal details.

Historical interest

SS-Polizei-Regiment 2 had a complex wartime history. Originally formed from Ordnungspolizei personnel, it served in occupied Eastern Europe and took part in anti-partisan operations before being reconstituted in late 1944 and deployed during the final phase of the war.

This is much more than an isolated award document: it is a named personal grouping with an identifiable serviceman, unit, portrait photograph, award record and supporting medical paperwork documenting his wartime injury.

Condition

Mixed condition throughout, consistent with genuine wartime documents that have seen use. The Wehrpass shows age-related wear and handling. The loose papers display folds, creasing, age toning, stains and some edge wear. The wound badge certificate remains clearly legible. Please examine all photographs carefully for the individual condition of each item.
