Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Card of Wilhelm Walther. Oberstleutnant Wilhelm Walther (27.01.1910 in Dresden † 25.11.2010 in Leimen) earned the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on June 24, 1940 as Oberleutnant und Stosstruppführer in the 4. Kompanie/ Baulehrbataillon z.b.V. 800.

 

Wilhelm Walther was awarded his Knight’s Cross for capturing a strategic bridge at Gennep during the assault on the Netherlands. Leading an 8-man team disguised as Dutch military police escorting German prisoners, they made their assault seizing the bridge and disabling the detonators.

 

Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
