Original Postwar Signature on a Postwar Photo of Max Lemke. Generalmajor Max Lemke (07.04.1895 in Schwedt † 29.05.1985 in Hannover) earned the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold on June 23, 1942 and the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on October 18, 1941 as Oberst und Kommandeur of the Aufklärungs-Abteilung 17 of the 17. Infanterie-Division.

Max Lemke was the last commander of the Fallschirm-Panzer-Division 1 „Hermann Göring“. He was a POW from 12 May 1945 until 18 June 1945. After the war he was an active member of the “Ordensgemeinschaft der Ritterkreuzträger”.

Provenance: This signature comes from one of the largest postwar signature collection I’ve ever commissioned. This collection was started by a Waffen-SS Veteran, Werner H., in the 1950’s until he passed away.
