Original Luftwaffe (Air Force) award document set of Ehrenpokal (Honor Goblet) Recipient Oberfeldwebel Willy Kuhn who served with the Küstenfliegergruppe 806 (later renamed to Kampfgruppe 806) and later became part of the Kampfgeschwader 54. He flew missions on the Western Front against the France and United Kingdom and later on the Eastern Front. Later on he even took part in North-Africa and Italy before being moved back to Germany. Most notably, on June 6, 1944 Kuhn’s Junker Ju-88 was shot down over Lion-sur-Mer during bombing the Allied Invasion Fleet. He was first reported as Killed in Action however he was the sole survivor! He ended the war as a British POW.
Also interestingly, Kuhn earned BOTH the Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger in Gold and the Frontflugspange für Transportflieger in Gold! Normally, you only would earn one of the two! He was decorated with the Ehrenpokal, but this document is not within the group. Excellent grouping with lots of research potential.
