Historical Description

This Soldbuch belonged to Unteroffizier Fritz Ehrler, a German Army soldier connected to replacement and infantry formations including Grenadier-Ersatz-Bataillon 352 and Infanterie-Regiment 404 / Grenadier-Regiment 404 of the 246. Infanterie-Division.

His service history reflects the harsh reality experienced by many Wehrmacht soldiers on the Eastern Front and later in the war. The entry of the Ostmedaille confirms participation in the brutal winter campaign of 1941/42, one of the deadliest periods of the war for German forces.

The Soldbuch further records the award of the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz, confirming Ehrler was wounded in action. The numerous lazarett and reserve hospital entries show repeated medical treatment and transfers through several military hospitals across occupied Europe and Germany.

Particularly attractive is the later wartime award of the Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse on 26 October 1944, indicating continued frontline or combat-related service despite earlier wounds and hospitalization.

The grouping remains highly interesting due to:

  • extensive medical history,
  • multiple unit entries,
  • combat awards,
  • period portrait photograph,
  • accompanying wartime paperwork,
  • and strong overall completeness.

A solid original Wehrmacht Soldbuch set with excellent research and display potential.
