Belgian Resistance Armband – FI (Front de l’Indépendance / Onafhankelijkheidsfront) – WWII
Original Belgian Resistance armband of the Front de l’Indépendance (FI), known in Dutch as the Onafhankelijkheidsfront, one of the largest and most influential resistance organizations operating in occupied Belgium during the Second World War.
Constructed from green cloth, the armband features the stenciled initials “FI” with a centrally applied Belgian tricolor shield. It retains its original period ink stamps and issue markings, including a visible control stamp and the number “MP 584P4” (?). The reverse also bears additional official inspection stamps, confirming wartime issue.
Founded in March 1941, the Front de l’Indépendance united resistance members from diverse political and social backgrounds. Its members were involved in clandestine press distribution, intelligence gathering, sabotage, assisting Allied airmen, organizing strikes, and supporting the liberation effort throughout occupied Belgium.
A scarce and historically significant original Belgian Resistance artifact, displaying clear period markings and excellent display appeal. Highly desirable for collectors of Belgian WWII militaria and resistance memorabilia.
