Early SA (Sturmabteilung) Brass Belt Buckle with Original Leather Belt
An original SA (Sturmabteilung) brass belt buckle complete with its original brown leather belt, dating to the early years of the Third Reich.
The buckle is the classic early brass pattern featuring the national eagle clutching a wreathed swastika, surrounded by an oak leaf wreath and rope border. Unlike later steel examples, these early brass buckles were produced before wartime material shortages and were worn by members of the Sturmabteilung during the consolidation of the Nazi Party in the 1930s.
The accompanying brown leather belt remains attached to the buckle and exhibits honest field wear, age, and patina. The leather is supple considering its age and retains its original adjustment holes and steel catch fitting. The buckle itself displays an attractive untouched patina with no evidence of modern polishing.

Historical Description
The Sturmabteilung (SA), commonly known as the Brownshirts, served as the original paramilitary organization of the National Socialist movement. During the early 1930s, the SA expanded rapidly and played a prominent role in political rallies, public demonstrations, and organizational activities throughout Germany.
Their distinctive uniform included a brown leather belt fitted with a brass buckle bearing the national eagle above a wreath enclosing the party emblem. This design became one of the characteristic elements of early SA dress and remained in use until wartime production increasingly shifted to painted steel equipment.
Following the outbreak of the Second World War, many SA members entered military service in the Wehrmacht, while the organization’s influence gradually declined. Nevertheless, original complete SA belts remain desirable collector’s pieces, particularly when the original leather belt is still present.
