WWI Imperial German Kingdom of Württemberg Enlisted Belt Buckle – M1895 Pattern
IN STOCK
€140,00
An original Imperial German Army enlisted man’s belt buckle (Koppelschloss) of the Kingdom of Württemberg, featuring the state motto “FURCHTLOS UND TREW” (“Fearless and Loyal”) surrounding the Württemberg coat of arms.
Unlike the more common Prussian “GOTT MIT UNS” buckles, Württemberg buckles were issued exclusively to troops serving under the Kingdom of Württemberg within the Imperial German Army, making them considerably scarcer and more desirable among collectors.
This example is the Model 1895 (M1895) pattern, constructed with a brass body and a silvered applied center roundel. The reverse retains its original attachment hook and steel catch, with no apparent repairs or alterations. It exhibits an attractive untouched patina with honest service wear consistent with age.
A fine and increasingly difficult-to-find Imperial German state buckle, ideal for collectors of WWI German militaria or those specializing in the individual kingdoms of the German Empire.

The Kingdom of Württemberg was one of the constituent kingdoms of the German Empire (1871–1918). Although serving under the command of the German Emperor during wartime, Württemberg retained its own military traditions, insignia, and distinctive belt buckles.
The state motto “Furchtlos und Trew” (“Fearless and Loyal”) had been associated with the House of Württemberg for centuries and reflected the loyalty and military tradition of the kingdom. The central roundel displays the crowned Württemberg coat of arms, flanked by the heraldic stag and lion.
Following the adoption of the Model 1895 equipment system, these buckles became standard issue for enlisted soldiers of Württemberg infantry, artillery, cavalry, pioneer, and support units. They remained in service throughout the First World War (1914–1918) and are significantly less common than their Prussian counterparts due to Württemberg’s much smaller military establishment.
Today, original Württemberg buckles are highly regarded by collectors because they represent one of the individual German kingdoms and are encountered far less frequently than the standard Prussian examples.
