Original German Wound Badge in Black (Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz) manufactured by B.H. Mayer’s Kunstprägeanstalt, Pforzheim, and maker marked “26” on the needle.

The number 26 is the recognized manufacturer code for B.H. Mayer of Pforzheim, a very hard to find maker. Maker-marked examples of the Wound Badge are considerably less frequently encountered than unmarked examples, making this an especially desirable variant for the specialist collector.

This example is in mint condition, retaining an exceptionally well-preserved original finish. The overall condition is outstanding, making this a particularly attractive example for a collection focused on German World War II awards and manufacturer variations.
