German Anschluss Medal – 13 March 1938 – Mounted for Wear

€75,00

An original German Anschluss Commemorative Medal (Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13. März 1938), instituted on 1 May 1938 to commemorate the annexation of Austria by Nazi Germany.

The medal features two male figures representing the union of Austria with the German Reich. Beneath them is the German national eagle with swastika. The reverse bears the inscription “13. März 1938”, surrounded by the motto “Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer” (“One People, One Reich, One Leader”).

The medal retains its distinctive red ribbon with a central white-black-white stripe. It is mounted for wear with a metal pin-back fitting, allowing it to be attached to a uniform. The ribbon’s original colours remain attractive, and the medal displays an aged golden-silver tone.

The Anschluss Medal was one of the German commemorative decorations associated with the territorial expansion of the Third Reich before the Second World War. Approximately 318,689 examples were awarded.

Condition: Shows age-related wear and surface discolouration. The ribbon remains attached, with some visible handling wear and loose threads. The reverse retains its metal mounting and pin assembly. Please examine the photographs for a detailed assessment.
