Original WWII German award certificate (Verleihungsurkunde) for the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords), awarded to Obergefreiter Sebastian Ditt.
The document is dated Paris, 1 September 1942, and was issued by the German Military Commander in France (Der Militärbefehlshaber). It features the printed War Merit Cross with Swords emblem at the top and an official circular military service seal.
The award is accompanied by printed signature, with the signatory’s printed rank given as General der Infanterie. The signature appears to read Carl-Heinrich von Stülpnagel, who served as German Military Commander in France during this period. The attribution should be regarded as provisional unless independently authenticated.
The certificate is an interesting example of a Wehrmacht award document issued in occupied France during 1942.
Condition: Noticeable horizontal fold across the centre, additional creasing and wrinkles, scattered age spots and minor discoloration. The circular seal remains visible, although parts of its impression are faint. The handwritten signature is prominent. Please study the photographs for the full condition.
