Original German award certificate (Verleihungsurkunde) for Unteroffizier Ernst Zander, awarding the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords), dated 28. Juli 1943 in Hamburg.

The recipient is identified as serving with 2. Batterie/ Flakscheinwerfer-Abteilung 119 (2nd Battery, Searchlight Battalion 119). The certificate was issued by the Kommandierender General und Befehlshaber im Luftgau XI (Commanding General and Commander of Luftgau XI).

The handwritten signature appears consistent with General der Flieger Ludwig Wolff, who commanded Luftgau XI during this period. The document also features the official Luftgau service seal (Dienstsiegel) and two additional unit or field-post stamps in the upper section.

The combination of a named recipient, a specific Luftwaffe searchlight unit and a dated award makes this an interesting document for collectors of Luftwaffe militaria and German wartime award certificates.

Condition

Shows age-related toning, creasing and a pronounced horizontal fold across the centre, affecting the recipient’s details and overlapping the two upper stamps. Additional folds, minor edge wear and handling marks are present. The main official seal, signature and printed award text remain visible.
