Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern Award Doc – Landesschützen-Bataillon 677

An original German Verleihungsurkunde zum Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (Award Certificate for the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords), issued to Unteroffizier Joseph Liebner, serving with 1./ Landesschützen-Bataillon 677.

The certificate is dated 1. September 1943 and was issued at the Hauptquartier des Oberkommandos des Heeres (Headquarters of the Army High Command).

The document bears the official service seal of the Chief of Transportation (Chef des Transportwesens) and the large handwritten signature of General der Infanterie Rudolf Gercke (1884–1947), whose identity is supported by the printed official designation beneath the signature.

Gercke served as Chief of Transportation throughout the Second World War, overseeing the Wehrmacht’s military transport organisation, including troop movements, railway transportation and logistical supply. He was awarded the prestigious Ritterkreuz des Kriegsverdienstkreuzes mit Schwertern for his contribution to military transportation.

An attractive original award certificate with a clearly identifiable signature of a senior Wehrmacht general and an interesting connection to the military transport administration of the German Army.

Condition

Shows age-related toning and handling wear, with a pronounced horizontal fold across the centre, additional light creasing and minor marks. Two punched holes are present along the left margin. The printed text, signature and official stamp remain clearly visible.
