Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse Award Doc – Heeres-Küsten-Artillerie-Abteilung 143 – General der Kavallerie Lindemann

Original award document for the Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse (Iron Cross 2nd Class), awarded to Kanonier Herbert Müller, serving with Stab / Heeres-Küsten-Artillerie-Abteilung 143.

The certificate is dated 1. November 1941, issued at K.G.St. and bears the original signature of General der Kavallerie Georg Lindemann, identified on the document as Kommandierender General L.A.K. (Commanding General, L. Armeekorps).

An attractive award document, particularly interesting for its connection to the Heeres-Küsten-Artillerie (Army Coastal Artillery), a specialised branch responsible for coastal defence. The original unit designation, official award stamp and commanding general’s signature make this a desirable addition to a collection of Iron Cross documents or coastal artillery-related militaria.

Formed in June 1941, Heeres-Küsten-Artillerie-Abteilung 143 served on the Eastern Front and was associated with German formations operating in the Leningrad sector. Its elements were attached to different Army Corps during the campaign, including L. Armeekorps, under whose command it is documented in December 1941. This makes the present award document especially interesting, as it was issued to a member of the unit’s headquarters and signed by General der Kavallerie Georg Lindemann, commanding general of L. Armeekorps.
