Original award document for the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse (War Merit Cross 2nd Class), awarded to Ewald Hartmann, a Former (miner) from Hilschbach.

The certificate was issued in Berlin on 1. Mai 1941 and bears the formal heading Im Namen des Deutschen Volkes (In the Name of the German People), with the award issued under the authority of Der Führer.

The document features the printed/facsimile signature of Adolf Hitler, together with the additional signature of Otto Meissner, associated with the Presidential Chancellery of the Führer and Chancellor.

An interesting civilian award document, representing the recognition of wartime service or contribution outside the regular military. The recipient’s occupation as a miner is specifically recorded, adding a personal and occupational connection to the piece.
