Original Wehrpass of Gefreiter Eugen Kolb, born on May 6, 1914 in Niederbröl. The Wehrpass was opened on August 13, 1936 by Wehrbezirkskommando Siegburg. Before going into service, he was a Plattenleger (Paver). He wore the Erkennungsmarke: -74- 11./I.R.464. 

Gefreiter Eugen Kolb went Missing in Action in Nameche, Belgium on May 18, 1940. He was later found dead. From the letters, I could make out he was a “Meldefahrer” and on that fateful day, during Artillerie-Feuer (Artillery fire), they lost him. he lies buried in the Kriegsgräberstätte Lommel: Block 48 Grab 465.

Comes with extra letters, papers, a Landhelfer-Brief, a studio portrait and a photograph of his grave. The Wehrpass is complete with photo. Nothing was denazified or censored. Condition as seen.

SS-Armeekorps (according to the Führerliste). Very interestingly is the SS-Skanderberg stamp in the Soldbuch!. During his career, he earned the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern, Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42 and Kriegsverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse mit Schwertern (1945!). On the front the Swastika is visible but there has been attempts made to censor it. Swastikas in the Soldbuch were censored. Complete with photo but lose pages.

During his service, he earned the Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42, which is noted in the Wehrpass, but I also expect that he was awarded the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (as there’s a paper noting that he was recommended for it for his excellent service) and a Wound Badge in Black due his wound suffered in Normandy, however there’s no evidence as it isn’t noted within the Wehrpass (doesn’t necesarry mean, he didn’t receive it, there’s numerous evidence of Wehrpasse not being filled in completely). He was likely wounded near or in the area of Falaise.

It retreated into Belgium before being sent to rest near Arnhem where they soon had to fight the Allied paratroopers who landed there.”

Original Order of the Golden Kite 7th Class. The Order of the Golden Kite (金鵄勲章(きんしくんしょう) was an exclusively military award, abolished in 1947, conferred for bravery, leadership or command in battle. It ranked just below the Order of the Chrysanthemum in precedence and was the military equivalent of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers. The order consisted of seven classes.
