Otto Günsche – Adolf Hitler’s Personal Adjutant

Juli 1944” in Schwarz and was a member of the Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler before he became Adolf Hitler’s personal adjutant. With the end of Nazi Germany imminent, Günsche was tasked by Hitler on 30 April 1945 with ensuring the cremation of his body after his death. That afternoon, he stood guard outside the room in the Führerbunker where Hitler and Eva Braun committed suicide. After waiting a few minutes, Hitler’s valet, Heinz Linge, opened the study door with Martin Bormann at his side. The two men entered the study with Günsche right behind them. Knight’s Cross Recommendation: In the breakthrough against tough forest positions north of the Luga on 08.08.1941 Waldenfels led his men outstandingly. Later, during the attack on Soviet fieldworks near Vopolzowa on 13.08.1941, he and his men stormed through hostile minefields, bunkers and static tank turret positions to achieve their objective. Waldenfels personally led his men from the treeline and assisted in the capture of the first Soviet trench position. Despite strong flanking fire from Lopsi Waldenfels and his men were able to capture Vopolzowa after six days of battle and thus the division was finally able to break out of the forested/marshy terrain north of the Luga. For his contribution to this success Waldenfels received the Knight’s Cross.

Joachim Schepke was Killed in Action when U-100 was sunk on 17 March 1941, SE of Iceland, after being rammed and depth charged by the British destroyers HMS Walker and HMS Vanoc. Vanoc located U-100 with her early radar in heavy fog and headed to ram the U-100. Schepke is said to have been caught on the bridge when the boat was rammed. Six men survived and 38 were lost. Good condition, minor wear. Small stain on the front and reverse. Postcardsize.

€0,01Scarce Authentic SS-Führer-Ausweis (Nr. 277 663) authorized to SS-Obersturmführer Max Vögtel, born on April 15, 1916. His NSDAP Party Nr. was 4 313 412. The ID bears his handsignature as well as the handsignature of an unknown SS-Oberführer (who was ‘in Vertretung’ of ‘Der Chef der SS-Personalkanzlei’). The Heinrich Himmler signature is a (rubber) stamp (?) and not handsigned. Measuring 11x8cm. Comes with a A5-sized paper, which was handwritten by a comrade and has a death notice cut-out pasted on it.
In 1933, Vögtel joined the Hitlerjugend and served with HJ Bann 185 until 1935, when he joined the 3. Sturm/ SS-Pionier-Sturmbann der VT. Took part in various NCO and CO courses both in Dachau and Junkerschüle Tölz. Vögtel joined the Ordnungspolizei in 1937 and participated in a course in the Polizei-Offizier-Schulse Berlin-Köpenick in 1938. The following year, 1939, Vögtel served with the Polizei Bataillon V/I. Not much is known from ’40-’42 but he was promoted to SS-Hauptsturmführer in January 1942. He commanded the 19. On March 13, he was Killed in Action: “The operations officer of LSSAH, Hauptsturmführer Max Vögtel, was killed on 13 March in a surprise partisan attack.” (via Pritt Buttar, The Reckoning).
