He was Killed in Action on April 20, 1943 at Protville, Tunisia during a flying accident. Wolfgang Tonne was credited with 122 aerial victories. Good condition. Postcardsize.

SS-Obersturmführer Paul Egger (26.11.1916-12.07.2007), earned the German Cross in Gold on December 30, 1944 and the Knight’s Cross on April 28, 1945 with 1./ schwere SS-Panzer-Abteilung 502. In 1941, he joined the Waffen-SS and became a tank commander in SS-Panzer-Regiment 2 “Das Reich” before transferring to the schwere Panzer-Abteilung 102, with which he took part in the Battle of Normandy. After its destruction, the unit was renamed to schwere SS-Panzer-Abteilung 502 and transferred to the Eastern Front, fighting around Stettin. Paul Egger recorded 113 tank kills. Original Postwar Signature of Walter Schuck. Walter Schuck, born on July 30, 1920 was a German military aviator who served in the Luftwaffe from 1937 until the end of World War II. As a fighter ace, he claimed 206 enemy aircraft shot down in over 500 combat missions, eight of which while flying the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter. Schuck earned the German Cross in Gold and the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves while serving with Jagdgeschwader 5. He’s also the author of “Abschuss!: Von der Me 109 zur Me 262“. Hoffmann Photo Postcard (Nr. /) of Knight’s Cross Holder Joachim Schepke, who earned the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub on December 1, 1940 as Kommandeur of U-boot 100. Joachim Schepke was Killed in Action when U-100 was sunk on 17 March 1941, SE of Iceland, after being rammed and depth charged by the British destroyers HMS Walker and HMS Vanoc. Vanoc located U-100 with her early radar in heavy fog and headed to ram the U-100. Schepke is said to have been caught on the bridge when the boat was rammed. Six men survived and 38 were lost. Good condition, minor wear. Small stain on the front and reverse. Postcardsize.

Hoffmann Photo Postcard (Nr. 1522) of Knight’s Cross Holder Hermann-Friedrich Joppien, who earned the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub on April 21, 1941 (RK on September 16, 1940) as Gruppenkommandeur of I. Gruppe/ Jagdgeschwader 51. He was Killed in Action on August 25, 1941. Joppien claimed 70 enemy aircraft shot down in roughly 270 combat missions: 42 victories over the Western Front, of which 23 were Supermarine Spitfires, the remaining victories were recorded over the Eastern Front. Good condition, minor wear. Postcardsize.

SS-Führer-Ausweis (later KIA in 1943 with the “LSSAH” Division)

Scarce Authentic SS-Führer-Ausweis (Nr. 277 663) authorized to SS-Obersturmführer Max Vögtel, born on April 15, 1916. His NSDAP Party Nr. was 4 313 412. The ID bears his handsignature as well as the handsignature of an unknown SS-Oberführer (who was ‘in Vertretung’ of ‘Der Chef der SS-Personalkanzlei’). The Heinrich Himmler signature is a (rubber) stamp (?) and not handsigned. Measuring 11x8cm. Comes with a A5-sized paper, which was handwritten by a comrade and has a death notice cut-out pasted on it.

In 1933, Vögtel joined the Hitlerjugend and served with HJ Bann 185 until 1935, when he joined the 3. Sturm/ SS-Pionier-Sturmbann der VT. Took part in various NCO and CO courses both in Dachau and Junkerschüle Tölz. Vögtel joined the Ordnungspolizei in 1937 and participated in a course in the Polizei-Offizier-Schulse Berlin-Köpenick in 1938. The following year, 1939, Vögtel served with the Polizei Bataillon V/I. Not much is known from ’40-’42 but he was promoted to SS-Hauptsturmführer in January 1942. He commanded the 19. (Pionier) Kompanie/ SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 2 “LSSAH” and in 1943, he was transferred to the Divisionsstab/ 1. SS-Panzer-Division “LSSAH”, under the command of SS-Brigadeführer Teddy Wisch. On March 13, he was Killed in Action: “The operations officer of LSSAH, Hauptsturmführer Max Vögtel, was killed on 13 March in a surprise partisan attack.” (via Pritt Buttar, The Reckoning).
