However the Soldbuch mentions he arrived on "African soil" on December 30, 1942. He earned the German-Italian Campaign medal on April 30, 1943. He likely was taken POW in Africa. Comes with an extra paper slip (with sort of plastic around) mentioning the money he had while POW.

Later General der Infanterie Friedrich-Wilhelm von Chappuis earned the Ritterkreuz in 1940 but was relieved of his position and transferred to Führerreserve in 1942, deeply affected by his replacement committed suicide on August 27, 1942. A5 size. Has been punched and has several stains.
